Assistant Project Manager
Elm Street Construction Management is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to
support our team in delivering exceptional owner’s representation services on healthcare and commercial tenant improvement projects.
About the Role
As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll work alongside our project leadership to provide critical support on construction projects ranging from complex healthcare facilities subject to HCAI (Healthcare California Accessibility and Interoperability) oversight to commercial tenant improvements. You’ll help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing all phases of construction projects from pre-construction through closeout
- Support project documentation, including meeting minutes, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Monitor project schedules and budgets, flagging potential issues early
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, landlords, and regulatory agencies
- Help ensure HCAI compliance on healthcare projects, including documentation and inspections
- Manage tenant improvement coordination, including landlord approvals and building requirements
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and quality
- Track project deliverables and maintain organized project files
- Support the preparation of status reports and presentations for clients
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of construction management experience in healthcare and/or commercial tenant improvement projects
- Familiarity with HCAI regulations and OSHPD requirements for healthcare projects
- Experience with tenant improvement processes and landlord coordination
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office suite
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or
related field preferred - Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
